Monday, October 9 2017

8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Massillon City Schools
930 17th Street NE
Massillon, Ohio 44646

This is Day 1 of a three-day series.  During the Three-day series, teachers (grades 5-12) will create/clone and teach an LDC science module using the LDC national and Battelle science model approaches aligned to STEM education and college and career-ready standards. During the second grading period, teacher teams are expected to teach an LDC module: meet standards and curriculum alignment/expectations, target a real-world problem, have a testable experiment and require a written student Team Design Report. Experienced LDC teachers and administrators are invited to attend to learn how to facilitate this process as LDC Train-the-Trainers. Regional and nationally trained and experienced LDC Trainers will facilitate the workshop series and provide virtual support.

Targeted outcomes:

  • Day 1: Identify standards, curriculum alignment/expectations and write a LDC Science Teaching Task and a Mini-Task
  • Day 2: Design a Concept Design Process with a real-world problem/testable experiment, and design report criteria and scoring rubric
  • Day 3: Calibrate student work, refine rubric and scoring guides, and reflect on LDC module design and implementation to improve the instructional process and student success.
