Strategies for Teaching Students in Poverty

Description

This school-wide workshop will address the effect of poverty on learning and will identify ways to work with these students for more successful learning outcomes.  The expected outcomes of this workshop are:

 1) Participants will identify why additional instructional strategies may be necessary for students of poverty to learn, and 2) Teachers will be able to implement various strategies within their classrooms that will specifically target their low economic student's to become successful learners.                                                                      

THIS WORKSHOP IS LIMITED TO 25 PARTICIPANTS FROM OTHER CSE OHIO SCHOOLS!

 

Speaker

LeAnn Nickelsen, Ed.M. founder and CEO of Maximize Learning, Inc. is a certified Jensen Trainer who delivers presentations globally on brain research topics, differentiation strategies, and engagement strategies. As an educator for over 25 years, LeAnn was a classroom teacher in 3 states and won a "Teacher of the Year" award in Texas.  She has co-authored two books with Eric Jensen: Bringing the Common Core to Life and Deeper Learning. She has authored eight other books including Memorizing Strategies and Other Brain-Based Activities.

Administrators and teachers from HSTW/MMGW implementing, planning and exploring schools.
